You can Build Happiness into Your Day. Happiness does not have to be a big achievement or a new purchase. These thoughts of a main objective make attaining happiness more difficult.
Happiness is a process more than an end. In fact, once the end is achieved the brain starts producing cortisol, the worry hormone, which is its intended process to keep us hunting. This is why so many people reaching that golden ring self-destruct afterward.
The brain is designed to reward for our thoughts, intentions, and behaviors. These are all things we can build into our day and at any time. The brain is designed to help us survive. It induces us by stimulating happiness hormones and neurotransmitters just for the right thoughts and behaviors regardless of their success.
You can have happiness for behaviors. You can build these behaviors into your daily plan. The best way is using blocks of time for your highest priority activities to reach your most valuable goals. What type of goals does the brain desire. Think of early man.
The brain wants us to learn challenging material or physical acts. Both cause the brain to grow. The processes cause the brain to stimulate the dopamine neurotransmitter as a reward and to sustain our effort.
The brain rewards us for acts intended to improve the community or mankind. Acts of caring, protecting, guiding, teaching, and loving all stimulate happiness brain chemicals. These could all be called acts of contribution. When our thoughts and intentions are to help others, our brain stimulates happiness chemicals to support and sustain the efforts.
Achieving that promotion or buying that new suit or BMW are only short term perks of happiness and self-esteem that will cause the brain once again to produce cortisol to make us worry about the next step. This plays out in the economy when someone buys a material good and before long they want a better one as the newness and happiness perk wear off.
Pursuing health is a great source of continuous happiness feelings. We get support for thinking of eating healthy and following our regimen. We get support for thinking of exercising and following a regimen. As health and conditioning improve we are activating the feelings of health as well as getting supported for our desire to do more.
Getting addicted to good habits occurs because we are getting the brain’s support and we feeling purpose. Working on challenging feats or tasks that promise to improve our state of survival and help others leads to the most happiness perks.
Build these habits and routines into each day as blocks of time that bar distractions. At the end of the day, you will recognize you have made progress toward worthwhile goals. This is where happiness can be sustained. The final recognition is gratitude. When we feel good about how we are living or our opportunities, we reach a high level of satisfaction.
