Passions are the key to the worker that feels he is thriving. He is thriving because he loves the things in his life. He has a good feeling about himself. He loves lots of people he knows. He has a career path that makes him feel purposeful.
The thriving worker has many things on his plate. He does not feel overwhelmed. He accepts the future will bring success and difficulties. He might take a special pleasure in the unpredictability. He knows he can handle adversity, knows he has resilience, and has handled many problems in his path.
Anyone challenging the present has to face resistance. It is not possible to reach a summit without the climb and the climb has obstacles. They should be expected. It is said the entrepreneur jumps from the plane and then puts on his parachute. He looks forward to facing challenges and has confidence he can find a way through obstacles. One guru told a group of us every wall has a door.
A thriving person schedules his day to work on important issues. His time management places the issues requiring the most focus at his high energy periods. He minimizes time wasting activities like surfing the internet. Try not reading newspapers to clear the nervous system of all the world’s problems. With less unnecessary anxiety, more subconscious time will be spent on your own challenges.
A thriving person has many recreations, hobbies, and interests he wants to include in his week. Health is a priority and good nutrition, exercise, and relaxation (meditation) are integrated into his schedule. I have several activities including biking, hiking, walking, surfing, running stairs, and snowboarding in my recreation plan. I always have something to look forward to and it runs like background music in my subconscious. My recreations are planned for the week even if I can’t make time on some days.
Every successful entrepreneur or goal accomplishing individual is creative. Creativity is how we come up with unique ideas, establish our value, and solve problems. We reach our personal goals by creating the path and creatively overcoming the obstacles. Creativity requires fresh energy and is best pursued during our highest energy periods. For some its early morning, others like the afternoons, and some like late at night.
A thriving person feels love. Passions are love. They drive us to pursue what our soul cries out for for us. Passions entail challenge and risk and these two elements excite the brain. The brain produces happiness hormones and neurotransmitters when we plan and execute challenging activities. Dopamine, serotonin, oxytociin, and endorphins are constantly present in the thriving person’s life.
The thriving person has learning, caring, protecting, creating, and contributing in their lives and each of these are activities that make us feel purposeful. A thriving person can probably tell you why he is here and his life is spent supporting his feelings of being here for a purpose.

As a Thriving Worker Consultant, I can engage in conversations with employers on how to begin the process of helping workers thrive and reach peak performance. It begins with a conversation to see how far an organization is willing to go to change the culture for workers.
Great practices for daily living can be learned with the Markap Series of Books. If your organization would like live presentations or Zoom meetings, they can be arranged for small to large groups.
