We spend time wondering about our future so contemplate Self-Leadership and Changing Your Future. From the moment you are given discretion, you start making choices that affect how you live.
Choices separate us more than most other influences. Yes, it is great to be born rich and have immediate advantages, but it doesn’t take long to list all the people who have risen to fame from poor beginnings.
People make decisions about who they are and what they want out of life. They make a decision about what they deserve. Those who feel they don’t deserve, do not go far. Those who feel they have a right to whatever they can achieve, rise to the top.
We make choices based on who we think we are. Are we entitled to happiness, economic rewards, respect, glory? We all knew people in school who were brimming with confidence and were leaders. What came first, their abilities or their feelings of entitlement?
Start with valuing who you are and taking care of yourself. Start with health. This can immediately make you feel you are at one with Nature. When you realize everything you need to be strong and fit is already here, you realize you were meant to feel good.
Start with learning. The brain wants to grow. Challenge and risk are the two main ingredients of growth. Those who learn and seek challenge rise fastest. Everyone faces resistance to their dreams. Some are eager to play. Resilience is every bit as important as talent.
Prioritize making a contribution. Improving who we are and making an effort to help others do the same resonates. Whether in business or in life, those making the biggest contributions are the most rewarded.
You can start at any time. All of these influences can be started today and included in daily planning. Creating growth time blocks separates the meaningful time vs more to do lists or frittering away time with distractions.
You are your leader. Take charge. Make your life more meaningful.
