Lifestyles that Prioritize Fitness and Happiness create routines and time management to accomplish important goals. Fitness and Happiness can be a path through the obstacles faced by our other goals.
One doesn’t see these two ideas very often on the same plate but they both require some discipline and both stimulate happiness brain chemicals. They both can be the result of getting into flow and flow is our peak performance and peak creativity state.
Both require some effort to set the ground work and neither is something you can buy for long term sustainability. They are the result of practices anyone can include in their daily routine. They work together well to help us self-actualize which know it or not is at the top of most people’s need for a purposeful life.
That is a lot of summary and promise so let’s break it down. Fitness and happiness require some ground work. For fitness, we exercise, eat healthy, rest, and continue to push for improved performance. The body becomes habituated to sameness and must be pushed to make gains.
Happiness is a biological process not a material goods accumulation process. The brain stimulates hormones and neurotransmitters for certain thoughts, intentions, and behaviors. These basic behaviors are learning and contributing. We contribute by thinking of the whole in our daily work, taking care of others in our circles, and prioritizing our personal growth and health.
These happiness behaviors were designed by Nature since the beginning of life to make species stronger and more adaptable. Nature’s prime motivation is pushing our vitality so we can reproduce. We have to learn adaptation skills to survive to the environment and those who adapt best do survive while at the same time more than 3,000 species become extinct each year. Survival is no joke.
When we learn, contribute, and take care of others as well as get more physically fit, we are supporting Nature’s intentions for us and in turn she supplies us with the basics of happiness and fitness. It is as simple as that and looking for so many ways to find happiness can be diverse paths to nowhere.
A magic key to this puzzle is finding your passions. Your passions immerse you in learning and growing. If your passion contributes to the welfare of others, you get a big happiness boost. Our happiness chemicals are dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin and endorphins. Their counter part is cortisol which makes us worry we are not engaged in survival behaviors.
If you have a passion for your work and a passion for physical exercise or recreation, you are going to be humming with happiness stimulants. They are designed to keep you engaged, reward you, and addict you to keep going.
These behaviors become your habits, routines, time management objectives, and your lifestyle. When wondering how to plan your day begin with the routines that Nature is encouraging you to pursue for growth and contribution. I like to finish each day with thinking that was a good day. My days are planned with these priorities first and the to do lists second.
