Relaxation Sustains Productivity

Relaxation Sustains Productivity because it gives the nervous system time to regroup and access creativity. Creativity is usually the most important part of high level productivity and it requires communication between the subconscious and the Universal Intelligence from which epiphanies are birthed.

Ask any creative person their process for being creative and they will say they have time blocks during their highest energy and most relaxed states. Both are required to create ground breaking ideas and solving problems.

Eliminating Stress

Creativity cannot be sustained with high stress. Stress shuts down systems and prepares the body for emergencies. This is why armed forces are trained to react in a rehearsed manner to encounters. Their moves become instinctive.

Creative types work best by accumulating the necessary information to solve a problem or start a project and then give the subconscious time to sort and deal with the information. This is why we often wake up in the middle of the night with the solution or get while taking a shower or walk.

Create Time Blocks for Relaxation

Creating time for relaxation or stress relief is just as important as creating time blocks for creativity and productivity. Exercise is a great stress reliever and nervous system rejuvenator. Solitude is great for relaxation. It can often be achieved by taking a walk in Nature or just finding a happy spot with no interruptions. I love camping for 3 days to reset my nervous system and open up new avenues of creativity.

There are several convenient ways to find relaxation. Yoga, meditation, working out with weights, listening to music, reading, running, swimming, and treadmills. Exertion takes the mind to restful places after the endorphins and dopamine kick in.

If you want to be productive for a long time, you will master relaxation techniques.
