What Prosperity Habits Do Thriving People Have?

What daily habits lead to prosperity

Thriving is about lifestyle. Getting rich is about making money. Can someone get rich and have a thriving lifestyle at the same time? This has been a plague for the modern era when people started thinking work/life balance should be a goal. Up until now, balance and happiness were secondary considerations.

For thriving people, lifestyle is a priority. One thing that makes it easier is they usually have a passion for their work. Work/Life balance is not as threatening if you love the work you do. So, this is obviously a secret. Can you find the work you love? Many people have become independents, free lancers, artists, vagabonds, and entrepreneurs to create a life on their terms.

A Morning Routine Starts Our Day in Our Control

One great suggestion is having a morning routine. My morning starts with tea and coffee, but also a quick dumbbell workout, stretching, and then meditating. Before my business day has begun, I have invested some time into my body and soul.

Next, I want to do the most important things for my success first when my energy is highest after a good night’s sleep. In fact, our day should look like an 80/20 plan of prioritizing all the important work and then leaving the sometimes urgent, distractions, and unimportant tasks for later.

A friend of mine works for Goldman Sachs remotely from San Diego. She starts at 5:30 a.m. She says everyone is immediately demanding she take care of urgent problems. She is cranky by 9 a.m. I have lived this life managing over 100 salespeople. I made a lot of money and felt I was dying every day. This is the type of lifestyle choice we are often forced to make.

After my morning routine in which I have taken care of the most important tasks to move my progress forward, I can make choices. I most frequently choose exercise for a few hours and return to work in the afternoon. I wear a few hats and am a surf instructor, thriving worker consultant, and now prosperity coach. I often have appointments and lessons during my day.

Daily To-Do-Lists Must Prioritize the Most Important Tasks for Progress

I have a daily to-do-list that has both lifestyle and career tasks. I might stop at any moment and go into a 20-minute meditation in which I close my eyes in peace and just sink into it. In the evenings I like to read, listen to music, and watch something on Netflix. I am balancing my nervous system with my career goals to keep myself refreshed and not burned out.

Burn out basically eats up a lot of time. While recovering, we let our career go and just try to get our soul back. Therefore, it pays to take time out each day to preserve our soul, so we don’t have to recover it. This means not selling out to too much overwhelm, ambition, or greed.

I like to track productivity in everything important. I sort of have running journals on things that are important. I weigh myself every morning and record it in my calendar. Proper weight is crucial to health. I record all my bike ride times and distances. I feel biking is a quality exercise in my life. I track advertising results, revenues, and productivity. These all act as guides, milestones, and mile markers for me to make continuous progress toward worthwhile goals.

If I am making progress toward worthwhile goals, I am living a purposeful life and knowing who I am. This answers a few of our most important questions in life. Ever hear someone say, I don’t recognize myself. This is the line people cross from lifestyle to ruin.

Review your day, your week, month, and year often to see if all the metrics are going as planned. There is always adversity, setbacks, obstacles, resistance, and disappointments. We include these in our perspective. We work through them without losing sight of our long-term plan of making continuous progress.

I like the adage that the rich have money, and the wealthy have time. I am always looking at how I spend my time and it becomes the determinant for having a good day. One good day after another leads to having a good life.

Some Good General Tips for Time Management:

  • Follow a morning routine.
  • Implement the 80/20-Rule.
  • Create a daily to-do list.
  • Identify important-but-not-urgent tasks.
  • Track productivity numbers daily.
  • Do a weekly review every day.
  • Ignore the unimportant.
  • Take ample breaks throughout the day.

I hope this helps!

As a Thriving Worker Consultant, I can engage in conversations with employers on how to begin the process of helping workers thrive and reach peak performance. It begins with a conversation to see how far an organization is willing to go to change the culture for workers.

Great practices for daily living can be learned with the Markap Series of Books. If your organization would like live presentations or Zoom meetings, they can be arranged for small to large groups.
