Challenge is a Life Force
There is one thing the brain lives for more than anything. Challenge. It is how we have evolved from Cave man to Mars Explorer. Think of every advancement man has made that has changed lives over the millennia and challenge has been the starter seed.
We are naturally prone to think about where we are and then where we would like to be. It is the modern age gift that when people buy a luxury, they are soon thinking about what would be better or what they want to experience next.
Happiness is Behaviors not Accumulation
We would be happier if we focused on what we want to achieve next rather than what we want to buy next. The advertising media is a distraction. The people who really enjoy life are engaged in an all-consuming passion that challenges them to be better and do better.
What did Bill Gates face from his early days of inserting one line of code into a computer at a time to program it to coming up with software that runs everyone’s computers and makes things so easy everyone could change the world. How many challenges did he face and how much did he enjoy what he was doing? Jeff Bezos went through the same process from selling books online, which was a crazy new concept, to expanding it to what it is today.
Challenge lights up the brain like few other experiences. Challenge may know no limits. For those who don’t like glass ceilings, tackle a very big problem or vision. The brain automatically stimulates happiness brain chemicals when you have thoughts, intentions, or behaviors aimed at making things better for yourself or others. Throw in a dose of oxytocin when you want to improve lives.
Challenge Becomes Your Life Path
Challenge is a great life path. You can have several challenges at once and live blissfully. Challenge leads to flow which is one of man’s most blissful states. Those engaged in extreme sports, video gaming, and tasks like surgery, speaking, teaching, writing, art, and entertaining all have to reach peak performances. This is a big challenge every time you engage because it usually effects the lives of others.
Boredom is the lack of challenge. Thriving is balancing challenge with relaxing. Happiness biologically is a process of feelings attached to behaviors. When we advance, we stimulate the feelings we know as happiness.
If you want your life to me more purposeful, engaging, rewarding, satisfying, and meaningful, engage in something that challenges who you are. Engage in several things that challenge who you are. The more the merrier.
Try to lose weight, try to get more fit, try to improve all your relationships, try to learn something significant and relevant to your interests, try to make bigger contributions. try to go deeper into relaxation with meditating, try to get your body more supple with yoga, try to be kinder and more empathetic.
Everything you do, try to do it better. Focus on passions. Avoid distractions that keep you from doing something meaningful. Be fully invested in self-actualization which means you are always becoming more.
Your effort and enthusiasm will become a model for others. You can always tell when someone is really excited about their life. They are optimistic, generous, passionate, and engaging. Be that person.

As a Thriving Worker Consultant, I can engage in conversations with employers on how to begin the process of helping workers thrive and reach peak performance. It begins with a conversation to see how far an organization is willing to go to change the culture for workers.
Great practices for daily living can be learned with the Markap Series of Books. If your organization would like live presentations or Zoom meetings, they can be arranged for small to large groups.
