Enjoying Our Relationships
We have more relationships than we count. When asked, we think about our immediate family and friends. We might extend it to our work and organizations.
The primary relationship that starts everything is the relationship with our self. Do we see ourselves as a separate entity or as connected to everything? This immediately leads to taking care of our body because we know that we are a part of Nature. If we understand that we operate in Nature, we know we can’t neglect our body, mind, emotions, and spirit.
Understanding the Big Picture
If we see ourselves as one with everything, then we have more concern for everything. Science knows that basic particles of the Universe are in all matter. We are connected at levels we rarely contemplate. In the Cosmological Universe, Leonard , the father of String Theory discusses why life exists.
He covers more scientific data about why the atom can exist on earth than most laymen want to know. I suffered through a few hundred pages as he contemplated how life began and how the basic matter of life allows all life to continue. I was disappointed at the end to find he had no idea how life began with the first cell. Makes me think that the idea life came from Mars is more plausible.
What was clear, however, was that all matter works in close concert with all other matter. The electromagnetic energy flowing throughout the Universe, flows through each of us and through the earth. The properties of this energy communicate with each other. Particles communicate faster than the speed of light.
We Are Stardust
We are star dust. The exploding stars that formed the matter of the Universe and the earth is in each one of us. The earth gave rise to us and the earth was birthed by matter in the Universe. We are the Universe.
So this may seem very airy fairy, but the point is that when we consider our relationships, we should consider how we are an integral though small part of the entire whole. We relate to the people around us, but we should also relate to the matter surrounding us like the trees, mountains, and oceans.
We should relate to our bodies as great gifts that we have been entrusted to preserve and improve. It is Nature’s drive to make all species not only adapt but to make genes more adaptable so that future generations are stronger.
Follow the Happiness Brain Chemicals
This is why we get happiness brain chemicals in the form of hormones and neurotransmitters for improving who we are by learning and getting in better physical condition. This is why we get the same happiness from caring and contributing. We are not as in control as we may think. Our hormones and neurons have been formed long before we were here. We have evolved to pursue Nature’s goals and not just the ideas we have been fed since todlers.
We may think we are here to own BMW’s but that is short sighted. How we earn the money to purchase material goods is much more relevant to our purpose. How much of a contribution we are making determines our rewards and contribution is a rather cosmic concept. Everything in the Universe contributes to everything else. It is in our nature to learn, face challenges, and risk to grow.
Think more of your relationships in a cosmic sense and realize your relationships with the people you know is really the small picture.
