How I Lose a Pound a Day
Losing weight is not as difficult as portrayed. In a very acceptable process, I can lose a pound a day. Right now after putting on a little holiday weight I am in the process of once again shedding pounds.
Last year, I lost 40 pounds in 5 months to go from 200 pounds to 160 pounds. The beginning is the difficult part because we have cravings and are used to eating foods that make us gain weight. You may hit many plateaus as the metabolism protests. Once the losing routine has begun, cravings disappear and the brain and hormones settle into routine without nagging hunger. It even becomes fun If you like a little challenge and good results.
My routine is basically:
3 half hour walks a day
80+ ounces of water
Very little consumption until dinner
A low calorie high protein dinner
Dinner early like at 3:30 or 4 p.m. (intermitant fasting with 16+ hours of food break)
Minimum intake after dinner
Good night’s rest (8+ hours)
Exercising more than once a day is healthier for you than exercising only once and sitting for the rest of the day. It keeps the metabolism active. Drinking lots of fluids is crucial to helping digestion burn off calories, otherwise the digestion has to look to food for water. 120 ounces is even better for weight loss but be careful you don’t rob the body of minerals. (consult your doctor)
Getting Started with Fluids
My day starts with an herbal tea, a cup of coffee and a 16 oz smoothie. My smoothie is water with protein powder, cinnamon, flax seed powder, collagen powder, a spoon of peanut butter, frozen strawberries, and half a banana. You can make it however you like. If I am hungry, I might have another smoothie. Drink as much tea a day as you like as it helps hunger pangs.
I can usually make it to to lunch with consumption of half a cliff bar. My lunch might be an apple. The afternoon might include some snack such as another half of cliff bar, carrots, or celery. Dinner comes early at 3:30. I am not usually starving as my body and hormones get used to fewer calories.
Dinner can vary but I like protein and low calories. Sometimes I have three kinds of beans, corn, tomato wedges, broccoli, and a protein like turkey or chicken. I might even put some spinach in mixture which shrinks as it is heated. I like to add a salsa for more spicy flavor
After Dinner and Boredom Time Can Be Tough
After dinner, I try to keep consumption to a minimum. I like a small cup of yogurt with a nut trail mix and maybe banana slices. I have water and tea after dinner to reduce hunger cravings. Because I have always been an after dinner eater, this is the toughest part for me.
I am losing a pound a day. I got to 173, which is my red flag weight. I am at 169 pounds after 4 days an aiming for at least 163 pounds. I love being lighter. As a surfer, I can pop up easier. As a bike rider and hiker, I have less weight to carry and better oxygen uptake. All systems work better with less weight including sugar metabolism.
If you have high blood sugar or heart issues, losing a lot of weight can be the solution to better health. It might allow a whole new lifestyle for you. You will look better and fit in clothes better. It may open new forms of recreation.
Set a goal and get committed. You will find it easier as you go and maybe even enjoyable.
