Neglecting Health Impairs Thriving because health is the greatest source of energy and wellbeing. Success in a career can be short lived if we are not healthy to sustain the effort.
Health is a big factor in avoiding burn out and burn out is a major obstacle in sustained success. Burn out can lead to reckless decisions. As we get run down our efficiency drops and our judgement becomes clouded. Sometimes the burnout accelerates as we utilize fake energy drugs to sustain us when our adrenal system is overworked.
The Basics of Health
Health requires relaxation, good sleep, a calm nervous system, and even solitude. Meditating in the morning for 20 minutes is a great way to measure peace of mind. It is possible to have peace of mind even if we are overwhelmed with responsibilities. Peach of mind is the best antidote to burn out.
A 20-minute solitude or meditation session in the morning allows us to separate ourselves from all that is in our world. It allows us to feel who we are and realize we are not our career or our material possessions or even our reputation. It is our connection to our subconscious where our inner most peace must reside.
Peace of Mind May Be the Greatest Reward
After peace of mind, we need supportive nutrition, weight, and exercise. Being overweight is an indication we might be an emotional eater or consuming too much alcohol. Weight is a measure of our discipline and ability to place our health above all our concerns. We can’t rationalize weight gain to our overwhelming responsibilities and remain healthy.
Exercise is the best nervous system stabilizer. It flushes inflammation from our body and replaces it with nurturing fluids. It develops self-esteem. It carves out time that is solely for us. It develops optimism. If we get into flow while exercising, we experience a high state of bliss. It pushes blood to the brain and energizers our thinking and creativity. It supports good sleep.
Health as a priority says we are in control of our fate. If we achieve the fortune, fame, and glory we might imagine, we want to be vital so we can enjoy it.
