5 Thriving Activities for Each Day

5 daily behaviors for thriving

Developing a thriving life can be created with the right habits. Habits are behaviors and behaviors stimulate the right hormones and neurotransmitters that make us happy. Happiness and thriving are close cousins.

Happiness and thriving result in our feeling fulfilled and purposeful. What makes us feel purposeful? When we are improving ourselves or making the lives of others better, we feel we are making a contribution and living a worthwhile life.

The 5 behaviors I suggest as a minimum are meditating, learning, creating, eating healthy, and exercise. These 5 behaviors can be fulfilled every day. At the end of the day, we have something measurable we can say improved our lives and perhaps led to the improvement of other lives.

Meditating is a spiritual act that says you have time for yourself apart from all your responsibilities. It honors you. It allows you for a few minutes to see yourself as separate from all you do. It says there is a deep reservoir of peace inside your subconscious that can exist without stimulus. Yes, whereas we spend so much time in a day seeking stimulus, this is the one time we seek total isolation from the outside world and allow ourselves to heal.

Learning is a powerful key to self-improvement and greater contribution. When we learn, we improve who we are, what we know, and what we can contribute. We increase our value by learning about our work, our bodies, and the world around us. Each day we should feel we have learned something that moves us forward. This increases self-esteem, optimism, and confidence.

Creativity is how we share what we have learned with the world. This is our effort to make the world a better place or to find our potential. Creativity is developing new ideas, solving problems, making art, and expressing ourselves. The world is full of people addicted to engaging in activities that express who they are.

Eating healthy is our connection to Nature. It says we respect the body we have been gifted and understand the most important way to take care of it. It places this connection and appreciation above all our cravings and need for emotional support above self-destructive habits. It is discipline. It rewards us with health, energy, and longevity without disease which means we enjoy a quality lifestyle.

Exercise is as important to all living creatures as is eating healthy. It flushes inflammation. It builds the systems that sustain our vitality. It improves brain function. It can take us to flow, which is high state of bliss that many find addicting. It is a connection and appreciation of our bodies and who we are.

These behaviors each day will create an appreciation of who we are and make us feel purposeful. All our ambitions must have a strong foundation from which to operate. We need a baseline of behaviors that sustain us regardless of what is occurring in the world and in our lives. These behaviors see us through all obstacles. We gain peace, health, growth, and contribution. We become a person that is thriving.
